____CONTEST #1: GempakStarz Fan Club ID-1____

That's right, our very first club contest.
Since most Malaysians are having a semester break or holiday around this time, we figured that this is the best time to hold the contest. As you all know, the club is new and we really need a club ID for our page. So here are the rules...

GSFC ID-1 Contest Rules
1. Width: less than or equals to 400 pixels. Height: Any

2. Must include main characters from any comic done by GempakStarz crew. It would be best if you include in Mat Gempak (others may include characters from comics like Helios Eclipse, Wasabi, Lawak Kampus, G.R.A.V.E, Kaoru's Cake House, Falcon, Red Fox, Under 18, Fatal Chaos, Le Gardenie, and others).

3. Theme: Positive, cheerful and welcoming. Please avoid any negative elements in your artwork.

4. Both Traditional and Digital art are permitted.

5. Collaboration between other DA members (GSFC members or non-GSFC members) are acceptable.

6. Contest champion's GSFC ID artwork will be selected as the club's ID. 1st and 2nd runner-up's artworks can be taken as a consideration for "Website Screenshot" or "Avatar". Keep in mind that none of the GSFC Founders has nothing to do with GempakStarz and ArtSquare staff, nor do we work with ArtSquare, we apologize if there are any inconvenience with contest prizes. _{Forgive us, we're still students without proper income}

7. Deadline: 30 JUNE 2008. No more requests will be accepted for deadline extension.

8. Please send a note entitled "CONTEST #1" and do provide us the link of the finished artwork.

So basically our GempakStarz website is down. Probably due to over-excessive gang-banging from spambots? Or could it be that... they are finally doing something nice to their website? *_*
Anyway, for now we are left with our current GSFC DA page to entertain ourselves lol.

And... and... my exam is finally over 8D Finally! I've now got lots of free time to keep up and do something about the club later on, mateys. Always keep in touch with us, eh?

"POPCORN is the first English language comics art magazine from GEMPAK STARZ and it is looking for comics and comic-style-illustration submissions.

The main purpose of this magazine are:
To raise the mark of our local comics art.
To showcase local talents that are on par with the international artists.
Discovering new talents.
Introducing international creators.

2 ways of submission:
01 Creator Own
The creator(s) will o.
Own the rights of his/her creation.
No page rate will be given
An amount of magazine which your works appeared in will be given to you as a token.
Your contacts (email, phone, website) will be included in that issue.

02 Publisher Own
The publisher will own the rights of your creations
You will be paid in page rate
Page rate would be higher than the regular submission as POPCORN wants more detailed artworks.

POPCORN expects
Fully painted(digital or manual) artworks.
- e.g. Puppeterr, Puyuh, Cicak, Kromosom, Popia, IFS(S'ore), Benjamin(China).
No specific genre but artworks have to look contemporary, be it a historical story.
Must abide to local culture, no excessive violent nor sexual situation.
Comics to be a complete story within 4, 6 OR 8 pages.
Do not worry about language problem, our in-house writers will help fine tuning/edit your words.
One page pin-up illustration should base on your own character(s) or you can also do your version of GEMPAK STARZ character(s), you can submit more than one page.
No abstract art.

Submission Process
Make an appointment with GEMPAK STARZ comic editor Slaium in advance with a proposal, preferably with some pencil sketches and samples of your finished artwork. Do not proceed to finish artwork before the approval of your initial proposal.

If you are not in the Klang Valley, you could email Slaium a low res version (72 dpi) of your sample artworks.
Artwork size is A4 (210 x 297)mm per page.

POPCORN will be published in bookshelf format, printed in full colour on art paper."
